Commitment to Equity
and Justice

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and compassionate human being, I am committed to creating a therapeutic space that is inclusive and healing for every individual. I uphold the core values of social work, including service, integrity, competence, the inherent dignity and worth of every person and most centrally, the importance of human relationships. I am dedicated to social justice and advocacy for communities historically marginalized, including people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, disabled folks and those impacted by systemic inequities.

Guided by social work ethics, social justice, and a commitment to equity, my approach is trauma-informed, acknowledging that systems, including the mental health system itself, can perpetuate harm and retraumatization. I strive to create a space that is empowering, validating, and responsive to each person’s unique experiences, while centering your voice and autonomy. I recognize the ways power dynamics can impact our work and am committed to sharing power whenever possible, practicing ‘power with’ rather than ‘power over’ in our therapeutic relationship.

I recognize my own privilege as a white, able-bodied, cisgender woman, and I remain committed to continually examining how my identity shapes my perspective: practicing humility, and centering the voices and experiences of those from marginalized communities. I stand firmly against oppression, hate, and ideologies that devalue people based on race, gender, sexuality, or identity.

I put these values into action through community engagement, advocacy, and ongoing learning. I participate in activism and mutual aid, volunteer my time with various non-profits and grassroots efforts, and support local artists and small businesses. I stay informed and engaged by calling representatives, advocating for systemic change, and supporting initiatives that uplift historically marginalized communities. I commit to continuous professional and personal growth through training and mentorship, learning from healers and teachers who are Black, Indigenous, People of Color, LGBTQ+, and disabled. I also integrate creativity and art-making into my practice and community work, using these tools to foster connection, healing, and empowerment for myself and others.

Blue Sky Therapy is rooted in feminist principles, human rights, and social work ethics. Your healing, growth, and empowerment are yours to claim and I am here to support you every step of the way.
